Feng Shui Colors

Feng Shui colors are not lucky paint. They are a vocabulary tied to the five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, water — that helps you choose tones with intention rather than at random.

The five element palette

• Wood — greens, soft teals. Growth, calm, beginning.
• Fire — reds, deep oranges. Visibility, warmth, charisma.
• Earth — beiges, terracotta, ochre. Stability, grounding, hospitality.
• Metal — whites, greys, soft golds. Precision, clarity, finish.
• Water — deep blues, blacks. Reflection, depth, quiet.

Using colors in a home

1. Pick one anchor element per room based on what you want the room to do.
2. Add a small accent of the supporting element (wood supports fire; fire supports earth; etc.).
3. Avoid stacking opposing elements aggressively — for example, big water blue + big fire red — unless you intentionally want tension.
