Bedroom Feng Shui
How to arrange a bedroom for calmer sleep and better mornings — practical, modern, no superstition required.
Feng Shui at home isn't superstition — it is the simple observation that the spaces we sleep, work, and rest in shape how our nervous systems behave. The bedroom is the most leveraged room in the house because the goal is small and concrete: calmer body, deeper sleep, cleaner morning.
The command position
Place your bed where you can see the door without facing it directly. Diagonal from the entrance is ideal. This is called the command position — it lets your body relax because nothing surprises you.
Five gentle adjustments
- Keep the bed away from a wall shared with a noisy neighbour or bathroom.
- Use a solid headboard. Open metal frames feel less anchoring at a body level.
- Soft, warm light at night; nothing blue-tinted after dinner.
- Clear bedside surfaces to one lamp, one book, one glass of water.
- Hide cables. Remove anything work-related from the bedroom entirely.
Things that quietly drain a room
- A mirror facing the bed (see our note on mirrors).
- Storage boxes under the bed packed with unfinished projects.
- An overhead beam directly above the bed — soften with fabric if you can't move.
- Phones charging next to your head all night.
These are aesthetic suggestions grounded in tradition — not medical or psychological advice. If sleep is seriously off, treat the underlying cause first; Feng Shui only nudges from the edges.
